The number of fatalities resulting from dengue fever has now reached 1,079, with an additional 15 individuals succumbing to the disease within the past 24 hours.



 In the past 24 hours until Saturday morning, an additional fifteen deaths have been reported from dengue, bringing the total number of fatalities from this mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 1,079 for the year. During this same period, 2,158 more patients have been hospitalized with the viral fever, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the newly admitted patients, 585 have been admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, while the remaining patients have been admitted outside of the capital. This indicates a worsening situation across the entire country, according to the DGHS. Currently, a total of 9,171 dengue patients are receiving treatment at hospitals nationwide, with 2,912 of them being treated in the capital.

To date, the DGHS has recorded a total of 220,822 dengue cases and 210,572 recoveries for this year. September has proven to be the deadliest month for the dengue outbreak, with 396 fatalities and 79,598 cases reported, according to data from the DGHS.
